What’s In Your Water?: Long Term Effects of Acid Rain

In this unit, students will study the effects of acid rain and chemically engineer an environmentally friendly solution to neutralize the acid in a simulated river contaminated by factory run-off. Students will use alkaline vegetable solutions to neutralize the acid of lemon juice. This unit ideally requires four to five days for full implementation, but includes accommodations for a two day simulation.
