Tiny House Design Challenge

For this lesson, students will use the engineering design process for the tiny house design challenge, which will include a design board, floor plan, scale conversion sheet and a tiny house prototype (model). Working in small groups, students will be engaged in a real world problem such as housing shortages especially for disaster areas where there are often grave housing shortages. After learning the basic information concerning tiny homes and viewing examples, students will begin appling the engineering process by asking questions, define the problem and plan and carry out design solutions. The final project will be a custom Tiny House prototype or model including furniture, appliance and interior design decoration.

For this lesson, students will be using the LEGO Spike Prime Kits and LEGO Mindstorm software. Students will write programs using the Color Sensor to make the Driving Base autonomous. A variety of
