Food Chain Mandala
Students will apply their knowledge of food chains within ecosystems to the design of a mandala. This lesson will combine science, visual art and geometry. First, students will get a review of food chains, ecosystems and mandalas. Next, students will do internet research in order to chose a personally relevant ecosystem, apex predator, secondary consumer and primary consumer. The overall process will involve students drawing concentric circles and composing the food chain into a colorful mandala design which exemplifies radial balance.
