Engineering Safety in Collisions

2 votes with an average rating of 1.

Students will study car barrier engineering in this lesson. They will study how Newton’s Second Law of motion can be applied to determine how to decrease the force of impact during a collision. They will then be given an engineering challenge where they will build a vehicle barrier out of paper and tape. A cell phone app will be used to determine which barrier is the most effective. Students enjoy this activity and the opportunity to be creative with STEM.
