Casa Grande 3D Model: Connecting the Past to the Present
This lesson plan has three main objectives. The first is that students will be able to recreate a map of the canal with 3D structures along the way. The largest structure being Casa Grande, or the great house. They will create the houses along the way using an 2D net that can be folded into a 3D shape. After building their structures, students will be able to define what a 2D versus a 3D shape is.
Finally, students will explain what a community is and why they are important for people in both the past and present. By comparing their own communities, students will be able to make a connection between themselves and indigenous communities of the past.
