Building a wheelchair Ramp
In this lesson students will demonstrate their deeper understanding of how the concept of slope is applied to the real-world construction of the wheelchair access ramp. Students will use the knowledge of Pythagorean theorem to calculate the length of the ramp surface based on acceptable slope of the ramp recommended by the Americans with the Disability Act guidelines.

This lesson is part 2 of 2. In lesson one, students create a scale drawing (blueprint) of a sustainable house. In this lesson, students use their scale drawing to create a scale model of a sustainable
Engineers often create small-size models of a new product to test its design. This is especially true with airplanes. Model testing tells engineers how a design responds to different air conditions
