The Two Story Burn Lab

No votes have been submitted yet.
In this hands-on forensic science project, students will step into the role of arson investigators by designing and constructing a two-story model home complete with interior walls, furniture, stairs, and window coverings. After selecting a location to ignite a controlled fire within their model, students will observe how the fire behaves over a two-minute period, noting burn patterns, fire spread, and structural damage. Using their observations, students will analyze the fire scene to determine the origin and cause of the blaze, applying principles of fire science and crime scene investigation. This engaging simulation challenges students to think critically, work collaboratively, and connect real-world fire dynamics with forensic evidence interpretation.
