Thirst: Building Background Knowledge
by Patricia Patchin
During this novel study, students will build background knowledge on water scarcity focusing on both physical and economic water scarcity. Students will learn the definition of scarcity, view a slideshow with examples of the two different types of water scarcity, experience what it is like to live within an area of water scarcity and use data collected during the experience to learn about mean, median, and mode. This lesson is the first in a set of four that focuses on the novel, Thirst by Varsh Bajaj.
