Shape Sculpture
by alexis kratzer
This lesson is called shape sculpture and the students will fashion a sculpture out of celluclay. Initially the students will create a 2D drawing of a cake design (or cupcake or doughnut depending on their grade level). Then they will create an armature to hold up their sculpture by using measurements and experimenting with different 3D shapes. Once they have their armature created, they will then cover their sculpture in celluclay to dry. Once the sculpture is dry, they will then use beads and glue other items on their sculptures to decorate them. Finally, the students will paint the sculptures using acrylic or tempura paint, then apply glitter, then finally a modge podge glaze to seal the sculptures.
