Summary:
Today we will observe and test five known mystery powders, identify examples of physical and chemical reactions to determine who committed the crime.

Materials:
6 teaspoons or small spoons, clear plastic cups (8 oz or smaller), black construction paper (per student), permanent marker (per student), magnifying glass (per student), gallon size ziploc bag (per student)
1 tablespoon of mystery powders in a ziploc bag - each bag labeled A-E

Agenda:
Day 1
What is a chemical reaction? How do we know a new substance is formed?
What is a physical change?
Set up our construction paper

Day 2
Review the difference between a physical and a chemical reaction.
Begin the science activity
