The Marshmallow Challenge and the Engineering Design Process (EDP)
This is lesson can be used alone to introduce the engineering design process. This lesson is 1 of 2 in an Engineering and Sustainable Design Unit focused on sustainability and sports. Students learn about the engineering design process, then work in teams of 3-5 to plan and build, using the EDP. The winning team receives a standing ovation from the other teams, and edible prizes! Student also work with behavior-over-time-graphs (BOTG), a systems thinking tool. Includes a set of class slides to teach the lesson, and music from the 70s-present!

In this project, 8th-grade students will engage in hands-on exploration of elastic potential energy and its conversion to kinetic energy using small catapults. Through experimentation and data

Students will be able to collaboratively build, and program a simple robot using Lego Spike Prime kits. Students will demonstrate basic skills in robotics and coding by successfully constructing their
