Magnetic Track Dark Ride (Lesson 3 of 4: Designing a Vehicle)
This is a four-part lesson that will guide students in groups to create a trackless dark ride. A dark ride is a ride where engineers utilize characters, scenes, and music to tell a story to the rider. This ride we will be watching is a new technology called a trackless ride. A trackless ride is a ride that uses magnets under the vehicle the rider is in and magnets in the flooring to create the path they want the rider to move on.
Throughout these four lessons, students will:
Lesson 1: Develop a ride concept and create a storyboard
Lesson 2: Design a track blueprint for their ride
Lesson 3: Design blueprints for a trackless ride vehicle
Lesson 4: Test their track blueprints (from lesson 2) with magnets
