Lessen Our Landfills: A 6th Grade LEGO Robotics Challenge
by Monica Carrera-Wilburn
This lesson takes place in a classroom over two weeks. Students may work in small groups of 2-3. Prior to the robotics challenge, teachers should facilitate student discussion through guided lessons on the environmental impact of landfills and why it is important to lessen the amount of recyclable and compostable material that goes into landfills.
Students should have prior experiences with LEGO Spike Prime “Block Coding” before attempting this challenge (tutorials are included in this lesson plan).
