Grasshopper and Habitat Engineering Design Challenge

No votes have been submitted yet.
In this two-week middle school STEM project, students work independently (with optional peer collaboration) to design and build a larger-than-life wooden grasshopper and a creative, functional habitat designed for a real grasshopper. Alongside the build, students will write a narrative story featuring their grasshopper as the main character, connecting their writing to the design of the habitat. The project emphasizes planning, idea development, hands-on creation, and evaluation, using both new and scrap materials. Students are encouraged to apply design thinking, creativity, and storytelling as they work in both the classroom and wood shop.
