Flying High: Airplane Design

Students explore the forces of flight and use the Engineering Design Process to improve the flight times and distance traveled.
Student Materials:
tape
glue stick
scissors
paper clips
different types of 8.5x11 paper (copy, card stock, etc.),
stop watch
measuring tape
Agenda (60 minutes-but could be done in two class periods)
-What things fly? Why is flight important?
-Read Aloud: How People Learned to Fly
or Video: How We Learned to Fly
-Forces of Flight Vocabulary
-Engineering a Paper Airplane
-Share or present results
