Fluid Mechanics Part 3: The Hunt for the Golden Mahseer

No votes have been submitted yet.

Involving themes of outdoor recreation, ecology, and physical sciences, this engineering lesson introduces students to the behavior of channel flows within the realm of fluid mechanics. Utilizing the phenomena of Golden Mahseer fly fishing in Buhtan, this lesson allows students to apply knowledge of outdoor activities along rivers, as well as their prior background on physics principles. In small groups, students will create sketches showing how different recreators use river systems based on the way the water behaves in each part of the river. Lastly, students will design waterparks taking into account energy additions due to more mass from pumps /compressors, as well as energy losses from drains and friction.

This a hands on activity that will have the students measure the frequency of a resonating glass bottle by using their cells phones. They will then combine with other groups to play a well known song
