Exploring Plant Pigments through Paper Chromatography
by Reny Mathew
In this lesson, students will explore the different pigments in green plants using spinach leaves. Students will identify the pigments by doing a lab using paper chromatography. They will observe the different pigments separate out. Students will be able to calculate the Retention factor (Rf) of each pigment front and compare with approximate Rf values of some common plants.
