Build a Sustainable City
by TERRI SERENA
During the Build a Sustainable City STEM project, 5th grade students will design and construct a model city that balances human needs with environmental responsibility. Students work in teams to explore renewable energy, green transportation, water conservation, waste management, and eco-friendly architecture. They use the engineering design process to research, plan, build, and present their sustainable cities, incorporating math, science, and design thinking. The project encourages creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving, while helping students understand real-world sustainability challenges.
