Western Expansion with Bee-Bots or Dash Robots
Using the Engineering Design Process, students work in teams to create a covered wagon that the Bee-Bot pulls as they program on a mat from Missouri to Oregon. Students are learning about the Western Expansion on the Oregon Trail as they practice programming algorithms on the Bee-Bot to get to different destinations. Other robots could be used for this lesson.

Students will first build and collect data on how fast their solar car is. Then students can change items to increase the efficiency of the solar panel to increase the overall speed of the solar car.
Students work in groups of 2-3 and use Bee-Bot robots to practice using a map key and symbol cards to program the Bee-Bot to find locations on a map. Students program, test, and modify their algorithm
