Snowflake STEM
In this lesson, students will learn about Wilson Bentley, the "farmer scientist" who pioneered photomicrography to photograph snowflakes and share them with the world. Students will then design and create their own model snowflakes which will then be analyzed for geometric properties. Extensions can include measurement, snow/weather science and reading comprehension, along with character education for persevering when things get tough.
