Restricting Sound Waves
In this lesson students will discuss how contact forces cause energy to be transferred and objects to move. They will learn that sound waves involve contact forces. Students will consider how contact forces are involved in sound traveling and how they might be able to stop sound from traveling. Students will conduct experiments designed to keep as much sound from traveling from a speaker to a decibel meter as possible. And finally students will identify similarities between good soundproofing setups in order to hypothesize why they worked.

This is a multiple-day lesson plan based on Newton's 3 Laws of Motion. Students begin the lesson by collecting data observing coins moving across a table. After making the observations, students will
The students design and test a catapult using simple materials like popsicle sticks and rubber bands. They learn about the history of catapults and also about the physical science concepts related to
Rad Roller Coasters Part 2 comes at the end of our paper roller coaster project. Students will collect data on their coaster and use that to calculate velocity, potential energy and kinetic energy
