The Polarization of Light

No votes have been submitted yet.

What does polarized light mean? How can some light waves be blocked while other light waves are transmitted? This lesson plan explores the phenomenon of polarized light and how light waves interact with filters. The dual wave/particle aspects of light are first explored and an analysis of how light waves oscillate and propagate is provided. Students recreate Young's Double Slit Experiment and conduct additional hands-on activities where they observe different properties of light and the role of filters in light absorption and transmission.
