Mystery in Flagstaff

No votes have been submitted yet.

In this lesson students analyze clues that help them make a claim about a phenomenon they are introduced to- a video of ash and debris-filled water rushing down a forest hill in Flagstaff. Students go on a discovery about how the Pipeline Fire in Flagstaff caused the erosion of soil that led to flooding. This lesson ends with a 30 second engineering exercise that helps students brainstorm deeply about the problem(s) these intensifying fires are causing in our own state, and how we can begin to solve them.
