Moon Landers
In this lesson, students will design and create a model of a moon lander that can land smoothly on the surface of the moon. Students will learn about the mission to the moon and how engineers designed landers in the past. They will think about the forces that are acting on the lander and choose materials that can absorb the shock force of the impact. Students will design, build, test and improve upon their design to safely land their astronauts on the moon.

Problem - Solution is a type of text structure. The objective of this lesson is for students to further understand defining problems and identifying solutions. Students will make a 3D model using
Engineers often create small-size models of a new product to test its design. This is especially true with airplanes. Model testing tells engineers how a design responds to different air conditions
