Mining and Water Filtration: A Paired Reading with Healer of the Water Monster by Brian Young

This lesson incorporates a paired reading of Healer of the Water Monster by Brian Young. Students will engage in this lesson after reading the book which makes connections of the dangers and aftermath of uranium mining on the Navajo Nation. Students will engage in a filtration activity that involves testing the pH level of contaminated water and graph their data.
