Literature and STEM
by Phyllis Lussier
This lesson uses a children's literature book called Rosie Revere, Engineer.
The lesson is designed to support ELA standards along with Math and SEPs. (Science and Engineering Practices)
The initial lesson is created for 2nd grade students with limited exposure or experience to creating models to solve a problem. It is very prescribed and all are creating the same flying machine. The extension options allow for a greater amount of creativitiy.
This is a great intro lesson to STEM and Literature and support data gathering and graphing.
