Introduction - Simple Machines Lesson 1 of 8

This lesson serves as the introduction to an 8 lesson series or unit on simple machines. This series will present dozens of activities to introduce your students to simple machines, culminating in the creative design challenge of creating a Rube Goldberg machine. You can use the lessons alone, or as a unit. Lessons 2-7 can be used in any order.
In this lesson students will:
Identify simple machines in our world
Discuss how simple machines make work easier
Design and construct functioning playground prototypes utilizing one or more simple machines
Provide and receive feedback through peer critiques
