Hidden Figures Taking Flight, Part 2: Rocket Aerodynamics
by Zel Fowler
In this lesson, students will understand how Katherine Johnson’s courage and actions impacted flight to space and changed the world, including racial segregation. Through a hands-on learning experience, this lesson will engage students to understand the basic elements of gravity and the flight of rockets. Students will explore and understand the principles of flight (thrust, drag, weight, and lift) by building and launching model rockets.
