Going on a Westward Journey with Edison Robots
Use the Edison robots to tell a story from the perspective of an immigrant/emigrant moving through the US during the time period of 1700-to 1900 as it fits 5th grade Social Science Standards. Students must research a story, write a narrative detailing push/pull factors and challenges of the journey. Then students will code their robot to tell the story and present a final presentation to an audience. Can be adapted for other historical themes or literature with the driving question: What happens when you leave your home for a new place?
