Summary:
Students will design and create a prototype that will sustain plant growth without soil.
Materials:
plastic bottles, aluminum cans (empty and open on one side), pebbles, 1/2 cup of water per pair, lima bean seeds, duct tape, scissors, heat lamp
Agenda:
Start by asking students the following questions and having a class discussion -
*How do plants grow?
*What does a plant need to grow?
*Can a plant grow without soil?
*What is Hydroponics?
*Students will draw a blueprint/diagram of their prototype.
*Student will draw a model of the water cycle with labels.
*After completing the diagram and with all supplied materials, students will create a prototype to grow a plant without soil.
*When students complete their designed prototype they will share or present in class.
*After student present/share their prototype, they will pour the water and place the lima bean to grow a plant.
