The Function of Newton’s 3 Laws of Motion on a Rocket
Students spend time learning about Newton's 3 Laws of Motion, but can they correctly identify which one is being used when they see it? This lesson focuses on identifying each Law of Motion as a rocket launches. Students will learn the vocabulary neccessary for engineering a rocket, and then learn about each law and their function during a launch. They will then create their own bottle rockets and be able to define when each Law of Motion occurs during the rocket's take off.

Students will build the strongest boat they can using only aluminum foil. They will learn about engineering design, water displacement, the effects of gravity, decimal multiplication, and geometry.

This plan was created by me and used in my afterschool STEM club in January. It tests building a soda can heater. The plan begins with the story, Snowy Day, and brings into focus the need for heat and

Students will listen to the story "Iggy Peck Architect" and create a bridge using available materials to see if it can carry weight. They will explore engineering as they plan, construct, and test
