Students will be researching engineering design features that can be utilized to create buildings that can more effectively withstand the effects of a major earthquake. Students will work within a budget to purchase the necessary supplies to construct the most durable building possible. It will be tested on a shake table and reflection and revision time will be provided to help modify and improve designs as they are tested. The students will have to work as a team to design and purchase materials for their build. The students will have a budget of $100 and they will have to spend their money wisely.

Shake Table Required for this lesson. I have wanted to build one for years. Easy to build and easy to store. Music to every STEM teacher's ears.
