Comparing Ways to Grow Potatoes for Pioneer Farmers
by Jeanelle Fetty
In this lesson, we will learn about different methods for growing potatoes, as the pioneer farmers would have needed to test during the time of the settlers in the United States and Westward Expansion. We will explore various methods of growing potatoes, understand the science behind plant growth, using a parent plant, and learn about the importance of soil and water in agriculture.
The students will choose and design a method to grow potatoes efficiently using limited resources.
