Building My Own House to Withstand Earthquakes
by Estormeo Serena
This lesson plan explores earthquakes and how to build structures that will stay standing. After learning about earthquakes, they will make their own dream house. They must consider the facts in preparing for a possible disaster and they will budget the expenses in making their own houses considering the building codes and permits from the Arizona Building Officials. They will also list down the expenses and sum all the possible expenses they have. Students will make their own house designs and present to the class and to the judges their dream houses.
