Rube Goldberg Machines: Force and Motion

This is a lesson designed for 4th and 5th grade. It would come at the end of the unit on Force and Motion. It describes a wonderful machine called a Rube Goldberg Machine. Who was Rube Goldberg? Why are Rube Goldberg Machine so fascinating? This lesson includes an ELA standard, Art standard as well as Science and Engineering standards. In this lesson students will read or listen to a story. Watch several videos. Read informational text and write a summary. They will finish by creating a Rube Goldberg machine sketch.
