Engineering Process with The 3 Little Pigs

Mini Unit Plan for 1st Grade (K-2) on the Engineering/Design Process. Students have an opportunity to explore a literature connection in 2 books, the engineering process as they build multiple homes with materials, and then build a final project with a mix of materials to test their process for Ask, Imagine, Create, Test, and Improve cycle.

This lesson can take 7-9 Days with 20-30 minutes per session. Students can be solo or can work in small groups. Students may also have exposure to build 4 micro homes, or students can be restricted to building 2 homes, the single material- observe other successes and improvements, and then build their own mixed media home.
