Grades: 6th Grade, 7th Grade, 8th Grade

The students will create a solar car with the given materials. Once they are done creating, the car will be tested. The students will calculate the speed of the car by timing the how long it will take

Students will make clay pucks. Fire clay pucks and put into various fibers, materials, paper while still hot to see the effect of thermal shock on clay and the design each of the different materials

This lesson is designed for 6-8, but can be used at lower levels as well (3rd & 4th). Students will learn what an experimental (or x) plane is and then create one on paper. The link to NASA's video
