Unique Science PD Coming to Phoenix & Tucson - Register by 1/10
The Arizona Science Teachers Association (ASTA) is excited to provide an innovative professional learning experience, Becoming an AZ Next-Gen Science Teacher. This unique 4-day professional learning opportunity (value of $600) is provided by ASTA to support the capacity of science educators across Arizona. For a minimal commitment fee of $40 - attendees will learn how to facilitate three-dimensional learning in their science classrooms that is aligned with the AZ Science Standards.
Participants will choose one of 4 cohorts - two are offered in Phoenix, and two are offered in Tucson.
Tucson:
Cohort 1: January 23 & 24, February 27 & 28, 2024 (Tues/Wed) - Four Points Sheraton at the Airport
Cohort 2: January 25 & 26, February 29 & March 1, 2024 (Thurs/Fri) - Four Points Sheraton at the Airport
Phoenix:
Cohort 1: January 30 & 31, February 20 & 21 , 2024 (Tues/Wed) - ASU Skysong
Cohort 2: February 1 & 2, February 22 & 23, 2024 (Thurs/Fri)- NAU North Valley Phoenix
The Next Generation Science Exemplar Program (NGSX) promotes the use of high-leverage tools, tasks, and resources carefully and specifically designed to deepen an understanding of classroom strategies needed to support student three-dimensional science learning. It is NOT a curriculum. It IS the tools and instructional shifts needed for 3-dimensional instruction, no matter what curriculum resources are being used in the classroom.
In addition, participation includes the following benefits:
· Implementation support through instructional coaching pods during spring 2024 (stipends provided)
· A one-year subscription to NGSX web resources
· PD clock hours
· An invitation to school and district administrators to attend day 1 to learn and interface with leadership at the Arizona Department of Education.
· Transportation Stipend will be available:
o 50 - 99 miles 1 way - $40/day (two days - $80)
o 100+ miles 1 way - $150/lodging per night (Up to 2 nights) + $80 mileage
o You will need to provide a google map showing mileage for stipend.
