Going 3D with GRC Science Investigations Professional Learning Series for 6-12 Educators
3 Days Total +1 Time Book Study for Science Education
The professional development is sponsored by SRP and ADE.
Sessions will be developed and led by Brett Moulding, a member of the National Academies Framework Committee, a lead writer on NGSS, co-chair of the NASEM report Investigation and Design at the Center, and lead author of the books A Vision and Plan for Teaching Science: Educator’s Guide to A Framework for K-12 Science Education, Teaching Science is Phenomenal, Engaging Students in Science Investigation Using GRC and Using Science Investigation to Motivate Student to Read, Write, and Engage in Discourse. Engaging Students in Science Investigation Using GRC will be used with this cohort for the book study.
These sessions will provide teachers with
- Professional development to effectively teach science consistent with the Arizona Science Standards.
- Professional learning to help develop a deeper understanding of three-dimensional science teaching and learning.
- Understanding of how to use Gather, Reason, and Communicate (GRC) Lessons.
- Books and materials for professional development.
- A book study led by author, Brett Moulding.
- Follow-up and feedback for teachers as well as instructional support for lesson implementation after the professional development.
6-12 Educators Cohort:
- January 27, 2024, 8 AM to 3 PM (in person at SRP)
- February Book Study (virtual- evening)
- June 6, 8 AM to 3 PM (in person at SRP)

June 7, 8 AM to 3 PM (in person at SRP)
The full-day in-person sessions for this 3-day series will begin at 8:00 AM and end at 3:00 PM MST at SRP. Breakfast and lunch will be included.
Must attend ALL 3 days to receive 21 credits. Partial credit will not be given.
- Day 1 January 27: 8:00 am-3pm
- Day 2 June 6: 8:00 am-3pm
- Day 3 June 7: 8:00 am-3pm

Please note:
Book club Study: Participants will have a choice to attend a virtual book club study in February.
Follow-up Online Professional Learning Communities (PLCs): Participants will have the opportunity to attend follow-up online sessions, facilitated by Brett Moulding, that will focus on supporting educators in developing 3-Dimensional lessons aligned to the Arizona science standards.
*IMPORTANT! 6-12 grade educators
- Participants must attend both PD sessions of this training to receive credit (21 hours). Partial credit will not be given.
- Schedule conflicts (personal, school, or district) will not be accommodated once the training has begun. Your registration confirms your attendance on both days as scheduled.
- The same person must attend all sessions.
- Make-up days will not be rescheduled for missed days due to illness or emergencies and must be communicated with ADE staff immediately.

- For the virtual evening book study, a Zoom link will be provided to the email provided through this registration for the February book club study and online professional learning communities with Brett.
